About

What is this all about?

This is about things that interest me (surprise!). I will mainly stick to science and my interests - two things that are rarely separate. Some times I may make statements observing society. I will do this from the 10,000 meter view. You may be offended by my application of necessity and history to a given conflict or subject, but ultimately the people who will be effected most by what is going on today aren’t even alive yet. Alternately, I may “one-off” a sentence or two with links that seem to support the case. I do this on a whim. I may not even link to supporting articles. W-h-i-m. Whim.

Sources, sources, sources.

Definitions are typically defaulted to Wikipedia. If you need to refer to the Meiji Restoration, don’t define it in entirety in your post. Simply put Meiji Restoration [1] in your posting, with the [1] linking to your source in a new window. Especially relevant if you have already written a massive discourse on your own site somewhere - just link to it directly. It’s not about traffic, it’s about sharing ideas.

What do I moderate?

1. No real need for profanity, is there? Passionate discourse is one thing, but if you are so impassioned as to need to use four letter words, perhaps you need some time away from the keyboard. Though I wouldn’t want to throw cold water on your enthusiasm, lets keep this dialogue legible and literate. And use sources.

2. Save Hate Speech for your rally. Ad hominem attacks, etc, belong on your own blog.

3. Keep it Metric, people. It’s the 21st Century. Unless your source is Imperial, then don’t bother mangling the figures yourself. Leave them to the experts to mangle.
